Scott is still staying home with the girls and we have hired help for him for a few hours twice a week, hopefully this will help him stay sane a little while longer until he finds a job. He ran his second race with them a few weekends ago and I got a break after they left and went yard sale shopping (so much fun). He is running a race on Friday night in Waxhaw so wish him luck, my parents and I will be cheering him on.
At night the girls are sleeping better though it took several weeks to get them sleeping through the night again. I am almost certain that after we put them down they have a secret conversation about who will be keeping us awake that night. Lately Emma and Savannah have been taking turns making us get up in the middle of the night. Last night they both decided to take turns in the same night, they must have not communicated about their plans as well, lol. They are all cutting some new teeth and so they wake up more frequently now at night. Scott usually does the first round and then I get up for the second round. They are tiring us out and we are so ready for this teething to be over. Speaking of teeth here is the newest teeth count:
Top Bottom
Emma 4 2
Olivia 2 2
Savannah 2 2
Scott lowered their cribs yesterday, they are all terrific at sitting up on their own and they can pull up to a sitting position so even though we haven't caught them sitting in their cribs yet we know it could happen any minute so we lowered them to the lowest position, the room looks kind of different. Savannah also learned a new bedtime trick. Her crib is in on the opposite wall from where you walk in so she was never able to see us enter or leave due to the bumpers on the bed, this has made it easy for us to put her down and she will usually just go right to sleep. However, the other day I put her down and was changing Emma over by the dresser and I heard her crying, I ignored her for a few seconds but then thought what is wrong, I looked over and she had figured out that she could put her arm through the railing and pull down the bumper and see me. It was so funny to see her little face peering out, I laughed so hard and made Scott go look, then I just had to pick her up for some extra cuddles.
I am still breastfeeding and pumping at work for the girls. The girls are getting a little more than half of their milk from me. Olivia is still my best breastfeeder but she is also our best eater period, she has to maintain those cute little chubby checks. Emma breastfeeds, but loses interest fast, she would rather mommy play with her. She also doesn't seem to be as interested in her bottle these days, she is way more interested in what mommy and daddy are eating. The girls now eat our dinner with us, whatever we have they get to sample. Savannah has decided that eating isn't so bad about 2 weeks ago she stopped being difficult during feedings, just like that she decided she wanted to eat and she has been a joy to feed ever since. A lot of times Savannah is the first one done, which was never the case before, she use to take twice as long on average as the others. Last night the girls got to try some sippy cups a co-worker of mine gave them. I put some watered down apple juice in there and gave them each one. Emma didn't really care for it, she would hold it but didn't really want to drink, when I held it up she would take a few sips and then was done. Olivia did great, she grabbed it from me and drank it all just like she knew what was going on. Savannah wanted to hold it upside down and swing it around, but if I held it for her she didn't mind drinking, she also gulped down the ounce I had put in there.
The girls are really getting around, they army crawl and are very very good at it. They are getting pretty fast and can get to anything they want, we are now fully utilizing the playroom which is baby proofed. Olivia has been getting her right knee up under her for a while now and everyday we think she is going to crawl off, but she hasn't yet. I think once one crawls they will all be within a few days after watching that one. Someone asked me if I had crawled in front of them yet to show them 'how'. My response was, "Definitely not, I don't want to teach them that, I enjoy still being able to keep track of them all".
One of the best things about the girls at this age is that they are really starting to enjoy each other. I love to sit back and watch them play together. Emma is a little mischievous and has figured out how to take apart the play mat, I caught her doing this on video. By the time I put away the camera Olivia had one of the pieces and Emma had three more. Here is the footage:
Here is another cute video of Olivia, she has learned to swing in her jumper. She tries to 'attack' her sisters who are jumping near her, to accomplish this 'attack' she holds out both arms straight in front of her and swings over to one of her sisters. In this video she is trying to get Savannah, all of them think this is a fun game, it is pretty funny to watch too.
