10 Months Old

Yesterday the girls turned 10 months old, I can't believe they are so old, but I love this new stage of mobility.  I love watching them crawl and discover new things, I think it is so funny to see them follow each other around.  Olivia seems to be the leader, she is the one that is into everything and she is constantly on the go with either Savannah or Emma hot on her tail.  Savannah is actually our best crawler, but she doesn't have the desire to go exploring like her sister Olivia.  Emma is our lap baby, if we are in the room she crawls to us and sits in our lap, that usually sets off a chain reaction and soon Savannah is in your lap and then once Olivia notices she is the only one left out she will come to sit in your lap also, it is funny to have 3 babies trying to sit on you at once.

Scott and I love to watch them play together and interact.  They crawl all over each other and take each others toys and push each other and yet no one seems to mind unless it is getting close to nap time.  On occasion they accidentaly pull each others hair, we don't think they mean to do it but sometimes it just happens and that will definately get a reaction from the baby whose hair was pulled.

I think my favorite thing about this age is that when I get home from work and walk in the door I have 3 beautiful, sweet babies smiling and crawling towards me to give me lots of love.

Standing

The girls are growing everyday.  On Saturday during baths Savannah decided that she wanted to stand up so she decided to stand up for the first time in the bath on the slippery tub floor.  Yesterday I placed Savannah in a pack and play so I could go put Olivia down for a nap.  When I came back to Savannah she was standing in the pack and play wanting me to pick her up.  Savannah also woke up around 4 this morning and when I went in there to see what the problem was she was standing in her crib.  I am guessing that Savannah will be standing a lot more in the days to come.  As long as this standing does not turn into walking soon, I think we will be able to manage this standing.

Running free

As many of you know I have been running with the girls frequently.  I have run many races already with the girls and plan on running many more with them.  Some other day I will discuss running with them in greater detail.  Today I had the opportunity of running without the girls.  All I can say is "wow, what a difference!"  I may not be an elite runner, but I did feel fast today.  I was making the large mountains I run with the stroller into mole hills that I just about leaped over.  After the run, I still felt great and felt like I could go run the workout all over again.  I guess the best thing about the run was that it was all on trail.  It was peaceful, as the only thing I could hear while running was my breath, my feet and the occasional squirrel.  The air was cool running in the shade of the trees as opposed to the open street, and the trail was very soft compared to the the normal blacktop.  I missed not being able to look down and see the girls, but that will make it all the sweeter when we run again next.

The Ball Pit

Last weekend when Sarah went yardsale shopping she found a ball pit. After days of bleaching and rinsing the balls and the ball pit (aka pool) the girls finally got to use it.  Here are some pictures of the girls and their first time in the pit.

Another Crawler..or 2

Savannah has decided that she is going to be a floor sweeper also.  This weekend she really took off and has become almost as fast as Olivia.  Emma is right on her tail and is also a floor sweeper but she is the slowest of the 3.  We call them floor sweepers because they only get up on their knees and crawl sometimes, most of the time they have found that they can go faster (due to the slippery hardwood floors) by dragging their bellies and legs behind them, so for the first time since the girls were born our floors are relatively clean, of course that has really just turned into more dirty laundry.

Scott's New Blogging Goal

Scott here again updating the blog. In an attempt to keep all of you well informed I am going to try to update the blog more often. Sarah has done a great job keeping up with the blog, but since I am the one at home with the girls now, it really makes sense that I update the blog too. My goal is to start updating the blog a minimum of once a week. If for some reason I don't post once a week it is probably because I am at home with triplets and don't have the time. Stay tuned for more excitement from the Roux triplets.

We have our first crawler

So Scott and I have been taking bets on who would be the first to crawl, while they have all been doing an army type crawl and getting around they haven't started using their knees or legs much.  We know that once that changes they will get much faster and be into much more.

The girls are all so close to crawling that one day we think Emma will be first, then the next day we think for sure it will be Savannah, and then yet sometimes we would definitely go with Olivia.

So the winner is: Olivia, she uses her knees sometimes and her legs at other times, the hardwoods are slippery for her when she wears pants so sometimes she will use her arms and push with her legs and basically drag herself around.  It is cute but she is into everything, we have had to employ the baby gates already and we only have one that is really mobile...boy are we in for it now (he he).  It is so much fun to watch her explore her world, her sisters are not far behind her in their skills.

Here is a video of her crawling, she doesn't get up on her knees in this video but you can see that she is really moving.

Separation Anxiety

Scott here today, I wanted to write a quick blog about my last few days.  Sarah always tends to focus on the positive but I am hear to report a 'dark' side of having triplets (and staying home with them).  For the past week or so Savannah has been experiencing what we have determined is separation anxiety.  You would think that having 2 other people int he room with her at all times (aka her sisters) would prevent her from feeling alone.  However, this is not the case anytime I try to even stand up no less try to leave the room she screams at the top of her lungs.  You would really think something was wrong, but as soon as I sit down or put her in my lap she is perfectly content and happy and smiling and laughing.  Once she is calmed down and you think oh maybe she'll be ok if I go pee, it starts all over and she screams when she sees me even make a subtle attempt at leaving, often to the point that she startles her sisters and they join in.  So on many occasions I have a house full of screaming babies.  I decided to capture this on video, folks this is the real world triplet version.

9 Month Checkup

The girls went to the doctor yesterday and we were surprised by their heights/weights.  They measured Olivia twice because they thought that it was wrong.  Remember they are being measured against full-term 9 month olds.  Here are the results:

Emma 15lbs 11oz, 28 1/4 in.
She is in the 10th percentile for weight and the 75th percentile for height
Olivia 16lbs 8oz, 29 1/4 in.
She is in the 25th percentile for weight and the 95th percentile for height
Savannah 16lbs, 27 3/4 in.
She is in the 10th percentile for weight and the 50th percentile for height, however we know that she is actually taller than Emma so she is also technically at least in the 75th percentile for height.

So, we have some tall skinny girls, but they sure are cute.  They got a great checkup from the doctor they are still on target developmentally for their age even though they were preemies.

I Love These Babies

Yesterday Savannah was so sweet to her sister Emma.  Emma was sitting up playing with a toy yesterday morning in the playroom and Savannah was playing with the stacking cups.  Emma was trying to move around and ended up hitting her head on the plastic toy.  It wasn't very hard and normally would not have bothered her but it was getting close to nap time so she was pretty fussy.  I picked up Emma and put her in my lap and Savannah was beside me on the floor.  Savannah looked at Emma who was still really crying and handed her the stacking cup she was playing with.  Emma reached out for it and grabbed a hold of it, while looking right at Savannah.  Once Emma had a firm grasp, Savannah let it go, it was so sweet, she actually gave her the toy and then just sat and watched her play with it.  I gave them both kisses and then found another toy for my sweet Savannah.

Scott enjoys playing with them in the morning after they finish their breakfast and he got the cutest video of them on Friday morning while I was at work.  They love the puppets the Easter Bunny brough, especially the doggy.  Here is Scott and the doggy playing with the girls.
