A Spring Weekend

This weekend Scott took the girls out in the jogging stroller he got for his birthday. His goal is to race with the girls for the St. Patrick's race on the 20th of March, he is training for the 4 mile run, I think he is crazy. I take the girls out in the stroller for walks around the neighborhood with my friend Kelly and her little boy Jack. The stroller is monstrous and is heavy, I can't imagine running with it.

Here is a cute picture of them.

On Saturday night we ventured out to church for the first time in about 5 months. We have had to stay away because of all the germs but now with the warm weather and the end of RSV season we are free to roam. Ok, let me revise that we are as free to roam as the energy to take them out allows. We left the girls in the nursery and we sat in the 'overflow' room so that we would be close to them in case we were paged. We go to a large church so we had a swarm of people around us most of the time. Luckily a lot of the swarm were friends, but we definitely had a lot of strangers approach us. This was the first time we had taken the girls to a place with a lot of people, usually we kept to the back aisles of Target on the weeknights to avoid people. It was a bit overwhelming and we had trouble moving about because of all of the people. I know we can't stay away from crowds forever, but it is a different experience.

Also this weekend, the girls got to meet their great-great Aunt Loretta and Uncle Harold on Sunday. It was a fun-filled weekend for them.

Happy Birthday Sweetheart

Today Scott turned the big 3-0, his day was full of surprise. First of all he woke up and I had some croissant breakfast sandwichs waiting for him, mind you they were still frozen, but hey he didn't know I had gotten them and hide them from him so that he could enjoy them on his birthday. He also got a surprise from Emma, she rolled from her back onto her tummy this morning (ok so I didn't plan that surprise), she was the first to roll from her tummy to her back but the last to roll from her back to her tummy.

The next surprise was for lunch. I had arranged to take half a day off work, and I was going to get him lunch from his favorite place. However, I didn't know how to keep him from eating lunch before I could get there. So I just hoped that he would be too busy to eat before feeding the girls at 1pm. I called at 12:30 and casually asked what he had eaten for lunch but he said he had not had a chance yet, I could hear them crying in the background so I figured I was good to go. I headed home to the Chinese restaurant across the street and picked up our lunches. On the way out of the parking lot I saw a car like ours coming towards me, at first I thought it might be Scott but then I realized it couldn't be because the girls only fit in the van. To my surprise it was Scott, we saw each other and our mouths dropped. Apparently a neighbor friend had walked down to help with the lunchtime feeding and Scott had ordered his favorite meal. The neighbor friend had not even known that it was his birthday or that I was on my way home, it was so funny. Scott has never had the opportunity to eat out since he has been with the girls and it just so happened that on the one day I was surprising him he got that opportunity. It turned out great though, because he was able to eat his lunch while it was hot and I had help feeding the girls (thank you Anita!).

The next surprise arrived around 5 pm when my parents showed up to watch the girls so Scott and I could go out to dinner. We had a very nice, quiet dinner and even got to run a few errands while we were out. I had ice cream cake as a surprise for Scott too so we all had some cake and the girls got to try ice cream for the first time (at least I think it was the first time, but knowing Scott they may have had some before).

I tried to find little birthday hats for the girls but apparently neither wal-mart nor michael's carries hats, so Scott was so kind to print some out and make them for the girls. I'm so glad he did because we were able to get the cutest picture of the birthday boy with the girls.

Scott's Birthday Pool Party

When I asked Scott what he wanted to do for his 30th birthday a few weeks ago I completely expected him to say the usual, nothing. Boy did I get a surprise when he asked that we have a pool party so the girls can go swimming with him for the first time for his birthday, let's all remember that Scott was born in the coldest month of the year! So needless to say this is not an easy task to accomplish. After exhausting several different and very expensive options, I finally decided to rent a hotel room. An extra bonus to this plan was that Scott's parents volunteered to keep the girls so we could spend the night in the hotel after the swim.

My well thought out plan was rudely interrupted by a snow storm (we don't get snow in the South). It started snowing Friday afternoon on our way to check-in to the hotel. I was nervous about sending them home that night in the snowy dark, but Dick got them all home safely and Scott and I had a nice quiet night in the hotel. The next day my parents, sisters, and their kids came to wish Scott a Happy Birthday, we all went swimming and had a cookie cake afterwards.

Here are a few pictures of the girls in the pool:

Olivia Rolls

Tonight Scott's parents headed back to the airport, their time with us is over. We enjoyed it immensely and were sad to see them go. They had a long night of waiting at the airport too because of all of the snow in Boston.

While Scott had gone to take them Olivia and Savannah and I were playing together on the floor. Olivia then rolled from her tummy to her back, I gave her big cheers but hated that Scott had missed seeing her new accomplishment. I am sure there will be many more opportunities though.

Visitors from the North

On Wednesday the girls got to meet their great-grandmother, Mem. She and Scott's parents flew down from Massachusetts to come visit the girls. They arrived Wednesday afternoon while I was at work, but Scott packed up all three girls and went to the airport to pick up our visitors (aka helpers). I am constantly amazed at how Scott takes them places by himself. They are so heavy now and I find it physically exhausting just to help get them and all their stuff packed up to go somewhere. He and the girls have made several outings by themselves including Target, Harris Teeter (twice), Radio Shack, Kirklands, Stein Mart, and probably more that I don't even know about. He gets a lot of comments from strangers like: "God Bless You", "Wow, you have your hands full", "Are they triplets" (this is one of my favorites, no they just all happen to be the same age, dressed in matching outfits, and in matching carseats...hello people), "Are they all girls" (ok so we have the pinkest most girly carseats that are on the market so again people let's think before we speak).

Scott's parents were a huge help around the house. I have contemplated on talking about the weariness and constant struggle having triplets is. I don't want to sound like I am not blessed, but I think people have a hard time understanding just how difficult having three babies at once is. We love our babies but we are physically and emotionally worn out. Scott's parents came just in time to help.

Olivia's First Tooth & Savannah Jumping

Ok so some of you may remember that I posted a few weeks ago about all of the girls and their teeth. Well apparently we were too eager for Olivia to have a tooth as what we thought was a tooth poking out the top ended up being nothing. However, now Olivia has a tooth...for real...on the bottom, we have been able to see the white spots on her bottom gums for a few days but tonight I was able to feel that one had poked through. We even got out the flashlight to confirm.

Emma and Savannah both have 2 teeth on the bottom, so collectively we have 5 teeth amongst the girls.

Here is a video that Scott took of Savannah today. She loves to jump in the jumperoo, she and Emma have both fallen asleep in it.
