April 23rd - 21 week specialist appt

On Thursday we had another ultrasound. Both of my parents and Scott came to this appt to see the babies. The ultrasound lady picked on Scott and assured him that they were all still girls. She took a lot of measurements and everyone is measuring right on target. The babies are all almost 1 lb. That means I have 3 lbs of baby now!

My cervix is looking good but my blood pressure is a little higher than they would like. The specialist said I should start slowing down and trying to relax and lay on my left side more. That means I get to start working part-time. This will probably begin next week since I am scheduled to see my OB on Monday and he is the one who will write the note.

Here is my favorite picture, this one looks like a baby is curled up with its knees up by its head, but the ultrasound lady said that actually it is the knees of Baby C and the head of Baby B, we got to watch while Baby C kneed Baby B a few times. It is funny how they already fight for space and are aware of each other. Baby A kicks them both when they start squishing her, it is cute to witness the sisterly love already :)

Here is a picture of all the babies, but it is hard to get everyone in the same picture now so you'll see that this one is hard to read.

April 19th Boston Triplet Shower

On Sunday I had my first ever baby shower, it was tons of fun. Scott's mom threw us one for their family and friends. The theme was three peas in a pod, the invitations and decorations were so cute, Scott's brother the graphic artist was a big help in designing these custom items. The diaper cake that Lynn made was so cute, she is so creative.

The food was awesome, Scott's sister Shell made these adorable cupcakes to go with the theme.

We were very touched by the generosity of our friends and family we got some awesome gifts including high chairs, cribs, clothing, crib sheets, toys, diaper bags, baby necessities, and even some precious homemade gifts like scrapbooks (already done by Scott's sister -- just add pictures) for all three girls, and tiny bracelets so we (and others) can tell them apart.

I just want to say thank you again to everyone who came and helped make this a wonderful event for Sarah, Scott, Emma, Olivia, and Savannah!

Trip to Boston

We made our final trip (before babies) to Boston to see Scott's family. I was 20 weeks pregnant and I am not allowed to travel anymore after 20 weeks. We left on Thursday afternoon and had a nice flight to Boston where Scott's dad picked us up. I didn't realize how much effort it would take to get around the airport. We decided we would ask for a wheelchair on the way back for me so I didn't have to walk that much again.

While in Boston we had a chance to see our sister-in-law, Crystal who is due July 17th, she is about 7 weeks ahead of me. Crystal has a nice little baby pooch but I didn't realize how much bigger mine was until I saw this picture.

We had a great trip, we got to see all of the family numerous times during our visit. We also visited Scott's grandfather in rehab and he was doing well while we were there, so it was encouraging to see him. Next time we come back we will have 3 little tag-alongs :)

April 9th - Specialist

We went to see the specialist again this afternoon and everyone is doing great! The babies are about 9 inches long and they weigh between 10 and 11 oz. That means I have almost 2 pounds of baby in me. Scott asked that they check again to make sure they were all girls and that nothing had 'grown'. The ultrasound tech looked at them all and said sorry, he was out numbered they were indeed all girls.

We love seeing the babies on the screen, they started out all sleeping this time, but then baby A woke up and after she woke up and moved around everyone was awake. The ultrasound tech said that they are crowded and can feel the movement from each other so they will probably all be awake when one is awake. Here are some more pics of our little girls.

As for me, I am now 19 weeks. My cervix is still measuring good, but my blood pressure was a little higher than normal for me, however it is still in the normal range so they will just continue to watch that. I now have to see the specialist every 2 weeks and my regular OB every 2 weeks which means I go to the doctor every week.My belly grows pretty fast, I can feel a lot of movement but not enough for Scott to really feel it from the outside. I have attached a few belly pictures below.

April 7 - Triplet Mom Meeting

So last night I went to my first HOMM (higher order moms of mulitples) meeting. Everyone there either had triplets or was pregnant with triplets. There were a total of 9 of us, 3 of us are pregnant and the other 6 had triplets. One lady had all boys but everyone else had a mix. Of the pregnant ladies, one is having all boys, one is having a mix, and I am the only one who is having (or has) all girls. All 3 of us are delivering at the same hospital and are due within a week of each other, so we may all end up there together, imagine how crazy the hospital would be with 3 sets.

It was great to connect and talk to people who are going through the same thing (or have gone through). The stories were very encouraging and it was fun to see pictures of all the triplets. We talked about strollers, cars, nannies, etc. Everyone encouraged hiring a night nurse for the first 3 months or so. I don't know how people can afford that, it seems so expensive especially since I will be out of work for the first 8 weeks and Scott may not be working at all. We are hoping that we can do it with family help but I know it will be hard.

They started construction on the nursery last week I will have to take an 'in progress' picture tonight and then an 'after' picture later. We are also going to do a frog theme in the bathroom I just got the border this weekend so I hope to start putting that up soon.

My next appt is on Thursday and we are very eager to see the babies again, I can feel them moving some and Scott tries to feel them, he said that one morning he thinks he felt a little movement, he was excited.
