Play Time
Today, Scott's mom flew into town from Boston. We are always glad to have her come visit. The girls love to play with her and she is a huge help to Scott and I. Since Scott has been home with the girls for 3 months now he is really excited about having another adult around to talk to and to help out. Here are some pictures of the girls and Lynn playing after her arrival.

A Sick Family
So the last 2 weeks have been very trying for Scott and I. This has probably been the worst couple of weeks of parenthood so far. Olivia was the first to come down with a very bad cough almost 2 weeks ago. We finally took her to the doctor last Tuesday when she was having a hard time breastfeeding and sleeping. Plus her cough sounded terrible. She had an ear infection and viral infection (bad cold). Of course the other two started getting it soon after and we took Savannah to the doctor last Thursday when she was super fussy and pulling at her ear. Yes she had an ear infection also. Nobody in our house was or is sleeping well. Most nights go like this:
8pm bottles
9pm put the girls to bed
9:30pm everyone is screaming, no one is sleeping
10pm mom and dad walk out of the room and pull out their hair
10:30pm mom takes one crying child out and to her room while dad comforts the other(s)
11pm finally everyone is asleep
1am a baby wakes up, dad goes to comfort
3am a different baby wakes up, dad goes to comfort
5am a baby wakes up, dad brings baby to mom to feed
5:30am another baby wakes up, dad brings baby to mom to feed
6:30am everyone is awake
7am mom, Olivia, and Emma snooze
8am mom wakes up Olivia and Emma, feeds them, dad feeds Savannah
8:30 mom goes to work
We are ready for things to get back to normal. I have also been sick but can't get better because I can't get any sleep at night.

First Race
This morning Scott and the girls ran their first race over in Ballantyne, The St. Patrick's 4 mile run. We had to wake the girls up at 6:30 to get them feed and ready. The race started at 8am and Scott and the other people with strollers got to start 2 minutes ahead of everyone else. This keeps them from running over people, and believe me there were a lot of people there.
Scott did a great job he ran the 4 miles in a little under 32 minutes. The girls did good, Olivia started crying at mile 2 and didn't stop until he was done, but the others were troopers. Scott runs with them around the neighborhood almost daily. He is going to run another race in April and is of course hoping for a better time.

8 Months: Growing so fast
In just a few days the girls will be 8 months old! I love watching the girls grow and develop into little people with very different personalities. Here are some little things that I love about each:
Emma: She has the best smile, her big dimples just melt your heart and she is almost always willing to give you a big grin. She loves to play and really loves to watch mom or dad dance or play patty-cake with her. Emma also laughs a lot and she has a really sweet giggle, we love to hear it. Emma lets you know when she is tired and she must have her blanket and her pacifier. At around 5 months we noticed that she put her hand or a small blanket over her head every time she took a nap. The doctor said we could give her one at night too because she had a hard time sleeping without one. We use to give her a security blanket and then walk in a little later and move it, but now she hugs it all night long it's so sweet. She is usually the first to sleep in the car or on a walk and she loves her swing she can fall asleep almost anywhere (but she usually needs a pacifier and blankie). Emma loves animals, she smiles and talks to Cuddles every time she sees her. Emma also really likes to talk on the phone when it rings she will look at it and say, 'hey', ok so she babbles but it sounds like she says 'hey'. She has called Scott's parents and mine and she really will talk to them, it is funny that at her age she already knows what a phone is and what it does. As for food she has always been our best bottle drinker but she doesn't open her mouth very big for food. She likes to eat food but she takes little bits and then she whines for more, she does not like peaches or peas but she seems to really like the pears. She isn't very fond of feeding herself little puffs with her fingers, she would rather mommy put them in her mouth for her.

Olivia: Our little Olivia still has the cutest chubby cheeks you've ever seen, mom and dad like to pretend they are eating them which makes her laugh. She has a nice deep laugh that will make anyone smile to hear it, she also has a cute smile, a lot of times she opens her mouth really big to give you a huge open mouthed smile. She is a good snuggler, she wakes up early some mornings and gets to come snack in bed with mommy for an hour or so, she has these cute chubby hands that are very curious and she loves to grab things and put them in her mouth. She also is easily frustrated especially if one of her sisters grabs what she is playing with, she gets very upset and it shows. Olivia loves for her daddy to hold her upside down, he does this thing where he tries to shake out all the change from her pockets and she just laughs and laughs. She is my best breast feeder and a great eater too, she doesn't mind feeding herself she especially likes to munch on her biter bars and mesh bags full of fruit. She is the hardest to get to sleep, she actually kind of grunts and whines softly which I guess helps her go to sleep. We hear her grunting and whining and we never really know if she is drifting off or if she is going to get upset, but usually she will drift off after a few minutes.
Savannah: Baby Savannah is so funny, she is very content most of the time but when she is not content everyone knows it (possibly our neighbors too). She cries very loud and she is good at making her sisters start crying also. Savannah is the most mobile, she rolls very well and we think she will be the first to crawl. Savannah loves to jump, she has to be in great shape because she can jump in the jumperoo for 30 minutes to an hour at a stretch. She has started to give us big grins lately and it is very sweet and rewarding. She laughs but it is a quiet laugh and you really have to try to make her laugh, though her sisters can make her laugh pretty well. Savannah has always loved music and she still does. She is not a very good bottle drinker and she stopped breastfeeding a few months ago. Sometimes we have to shake a rattle or play music so that she will eat. She is a much better food eater, she opens her mouth very big so you can feed her. While she eats she likes to play with her feet apparently they are very interesting, lol. She doesn't seem to mind much except peas those she doesn't care for. She is good at picking up the puffs and sometimes will munch on a biter bar but a lot of times she would rather munch on her hands, this makes feeding her especially messy.
Emma: She has the best smile, her big dimples just melt your heart and she is almost always willing to give you a big grin. A day with 4 kids
I am so glad that spring has arrived, we were getting very tired of staying inside with the girls all the time. Now with the nice weather we have been able to get out more.
This weekend was Jayla's 3rd birthday so my mom and dad took Bethany who is also 3 up to Fayetteville for the party. Scott and I kept my nephew Jesse while Stephanie worked on Saturday. I was nervous about having 4 kids and figured that it would be an exhausting day, but instead it was actually very enjoyable and fun. As it turns out Jesse is very entertained by our girls and they are very entertained by him.
The day went like this:
10 am Jesse arrives, the girls are playing in their exersaucers. Jesse stands in the middle of the floor watching them.
10:30 he decides that it is acceptable to now get closer to the girls. They all stop and watch him as he walks around them. They laugh at him and smile, he gets closer and starts playing with their toys.
11:00 we feed Jesse and put everyone down for a nap.
11:30 all 4 babies are sleeping
1:00 we wake up the girls and feed them, Jesse gets up
1:30 all 4 babies eat solid food
2:00 Kelly comes over without Jack (he is sleeping) and we take them all for a walk
3:00 the girls play in their exersaucers with Jesse, he liked Olivia's toys the best so he would stand there and play then Emma would jump up and down and he would notice her so he would walk over there and play with her. Then Savannah would yell at him and he would notice her and walk all the way around the other two to get to her and talk to her and play and then back to Olivia. Scott and I just sat and watched, it was so so funny to see them all want to play, they would laugh and smile at each other non-stop it was too cute. We tried to take some video footage but the batteries were dead.
4:00 everyone goes down for a nap, ok so this nap wasn't as successful, Olivia decided not to sleep and then at 4:30 I heard Jesse moving around, I don't think he slept either. At 4:30 Savannah wakes up and Olivia sleeps finally.
5:00 time to eat again, the girls get bottles Jesse has mac and cheese.
5:30 Stephanie arrives to pick up Jesse
So it was a fun day, Jesse entertained us all, let's just hope everyone sleeps well tonight!

Mommies Girls
As I was looking back at my blog today I realized that I don't have many pictures of myself with the girls because I am always the one taking the pictures. So tonight when I got home we decided to go grab some dinner across the street so I put the girls in their little sweaters and hats and then thought I should get a picture with them. So I did, but I should have probably combed my hair and refresh my make-up, oh well.

Aren't these sweaters and hats adorable, some ladies my mom works with made them for the girls.
