Our Not So Happy New Year

So we have had some major changes over the last 48 hours, and none of them have been good. 2010 has not started off well for us.

1: Scott lost his job
2: Olivia was admitted to the hospital
3: Scott's grandfather passed away

The first thing that happened was that Scott lost his job his last day of work was yesterday 12/31. He is looking for another job, but the market isn't great. If anyone has any recommendations or knows of any positions I'd be happy to pass along his resume.

Yesterday I woke up got ready and took Olivia downstairs so the nanny could feed her, but on the way I noticed she was having some labored breathing. The nanny started feeding her while I called in to work to say I would be late at best. While Olivia was eating she got choked up a bit and was really struggling her lips turned blue and her color was not good. I was able to get her cleared up and her color returned. I called the doctors and we went immediately, of course I could not leave her alone in the car so we had to pack up everyone so the nanny could watch Olivia as we drove. We got to the doctor's around 9am, the doctor took one look at her and said RSV. He did the test and it was positive, they tried to do a breathing treatment but it did not help enough so they sent her to the hospital. I drove home dropped off the other two and the nanny (by this time Scott had come home from work) picked up Scott packed some stuff for everyone and headed out. We got to the hospital around 12 noon. She did not have to have an IV or anything like that but she is getting some oxygen to help her breathe, she is just struggling and working so hard that this will give her some relief. She has been in good spirits but is tired from laboring so much. Scott spent the night with her last night and I came home to take care of the other two. Of course all of our insurance premiums and dedictubles that we meet with their birth cover her through 12/31 yesterday. But starting today we have to pay it all over again, which is very frustrating knowing our income is now cut in half. My mom came up last night to help and has been great. The other girls are doing well, but their is a high possibility that they can catch the RSV as it is highly contangious. If you would like more information on RSV please click here.

Yesterday morning during all of this chaos Scott's parents called to say that his grandfather was not doing well. His grandfather's health has been poor for a while now and has hung in there longer than they expected, but it is still very hard to hear that things are getting worse. He was surrounded by family when he passed away this morning at a little before 1am, he made the New Year but not by much.

Please keep us in your prayers and we go through this difficult time.
