Scott’s parents came to visit us last week the girls call them Pepere 'pepe' and Grammy. We had a nice visit together, I think the highlight of the visit was the trip I planned to the Lazy 5 Ranch. We went to the Ranch on a Wednesday so both Scott and I had to take the day off. Everyone woke up early in the morning so they could get ready before the girls woke up. We packed lunches for everyone and packed the van. Once the girls were up we ate breakfast and then loaded everyone in the van to make the drive to the Ranch. The drive was good and uneventful, we had a little problem finding the place, because it was a bit further down the road than we expected. We drove in the front gate and there were animals right there. Emma was the first to see them and she started squealing and talking in her excited, high-pitched voice, you could tell that she was VERY excited. Olivia and Savannah then saw the animals and they were excited too, eveyone was pointing and trying to get out of their carseats.

The first major exhibit we saw were the sheep and goats. Pepere bought a bucket of feed for the girls. The girls loved the animals and loved being able to feed them. At first they were not fond of the animals licking their hands so they preferred to drop it on the ground for the animals. Savannah and Emma finally decided their tongues tickled and didn't mind but Olivia did not like them to lick her hand. After the goats we saw lots of different birds. After the birds we saw the camels and the llamas. The girls like feeding the llamas.

After we did the walking part of the park we walked to the picnic/play are and we watched the girls play on the playground. For anyone who is planning on going to the Lazy 5 Ranch with small kids, a warning that the play set is designed for kids a bit older than the girls. Scott was very nervous since the playground had ‘holes’ for fire poles as well as very steep slides with equally slippery ramps to climb up. Olivia fell off of one of the ramps, but her daddy caught her with super reflexes and she was saved from a big fall. After playing we ate a good and uneventful lunch. The girls ate really good considering they were sitting on a picnic table and not high chairs.

After lunch we went to the Barn where we got on the horse drawn wagons to take a wagon ride through the park. The area where the wagon goes is accessible either by your car or the wagon. We have heard of many people’s vehicles getting damaged by driving through and that is why we opted for the wagon ride. While waiting on the wagon ride the girls enjoyed pulling around some little wagons.
The day was warm, but cool enough that the animals were all about and not hiding in the shade. The girls loved the wagon and all the new animals they saw. They saw Zebras, Emus, different types of Bovine, giraffes, Luther the Rhino, LOTS of pigs, deer and many other animals. The animals came right up to the wagon to be fed, it was a neat experience for all of us.
After the wagon ride the girls were exhausted and they were all sleeping within minutes of leaving the park. On the way home we made some stops since the girls would be sleeping. We stopped at a few stores to do some errands and we stopped at a place to do some research for the girls two year birthday party which is approaching quickly. We arrived back home and had a fun and safe trip.
